Today's Featured Biography
Terry Fischer
Three grandchildren, 2 girls, 2006, 2008, one boy, 2010. Always great to be among them as I am briefly their age again.
I still stock up on Dairy Queen treats, must be an occupational hazard from my early employment there while a student at GW.
Beginning employment with CDoH: on field survey crew, saw Wadsworth open from Hampden south to Ken Caryl Ave. Surveyed I-70 corridor west of Kipling to Colfax before that highway was constructed.
Spent most of December 1971 in Australia incl. Christmas and Boxing Day. Had two New Years, one in Fiji and one upon landing in Hawaii on homeward travel.
First year with CDoH Bridge Design: checked plans for widening Colfax Viaduct. Later drafted plans for repairs to Lawrence & Larimer Viaducts, drafted bridge plans for the two tri-level interchanges at I-25&US36 and I-25&I-225 - ALL gone now. Bought my first work tool-a slide rule and later, the second model HP calculator. All drafting work was done by hand. Worked on the plans and surveyed the locations for the I-70 bridges on the West side of Vail Pass.
Designed 5 bridges while in Bridge Design - I-76 over Pecos St., SH 394 So. of Craig, SH 65 over I-70 East of Palisade, SH 72 East of Jct. with SH 93 and SH 266 in Rocky Ford. Computers were just beginning to enter the workplace. Mainframe computer at CU Bolder was shared by CDoH. Students had priority during finals.
Transferred to Durango 1988. CDoH became CDOT. Computers became available in the workplace for roadway designs and drafting of plans. Became Registered Professional Engineer in Colorado. Retired in 2000.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
