George Washington High School
50th Reunion Weekend
I went to San Francisco State for a Bachelors of Art in History. Later, I completed my Masters in Social Work at the University of Maryland. I worked at a hospital for abused and neglected children, a suicide prevention center and conducted group therapy for low income families. I married my husband while he was in his final year of medical school in New Orleans, LA. We moved frequently: Madison, WI; Palo Alto, CA; Baltimore, MD, and finally 30 years in the Rockville-Bethesda area, Maryland. We now live near Minneapolis where my husband is a research cardiologist. I visit Boston often since our sons and grandchildren live there. Our boys are also cardiologists. I provide the balance so dinner talk is not always about heart problems. We have travelled extensively; China, Japan, Europe, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Australia and South Africa. My favorite is South Africa - the people and the incredible safari. I winter in Palm Springs, CA, and volunteer at Gilda's Club, a breast cancer support group. I am a 16-year breast cancer survivor. For the past 30 years we have enjoyed our second home in Chappaquiddick on Martha's Vineyard. It's been quite a journey for the past 50 years. I wouldn't change a thing...even a breast cancer diagnosis as it caused me to reevaluate my life's accomplishments and future goals. The knowledge that I have no regrets is perhaps the best that one can say about their life.
