Today's Featured Biography
Patrick Fleming
Patrick Edward Fleming, born August 15, 1940 in Blackfoot Idaho, the family moved to San Pablo California in 1943, and lived there until 1957, then moved to Point Richmond, California. Patrick graduated from Richmond Union High School in 1958, then attended Radio Electronics Communications School in Oakland, California, graduating in 1959 with a First Class Commercial Radio Operator license, and as an associate Electronics Engineer. He married Barbara Taylor in October 1959 and worked in local electronics firms in Berkeley and Oakland until joining the U.S. Navy in June 1960. After completing his training in San Diego and Imperial Beach, California he was stationed in Hawaii, Okinawa, traveled to Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and served in Vietnam until 1967. After discharge from the Navy he moved to Seattle Washington and worked for Pacific NW Bell, and retired from them in 1983 as Manager of Business Systems development, having developed the first real-time Computer based assignment system. Moving back to San Francisco and living in Vallejo, California he worked for Charles Schwab as a Manager of Computer Systems migration. Starting his own consulting business in 1990, his firm was contracted with Wells Fargo Bank in 1993-2000, to manage the migration of all bank branch systems from the IBM Mainframe to Internet Protocol (IP). Re-designed the entire bank system three times, and migrated to a 100% IP network connected from 11 to 48 States. Moved to Tucson Arizona in 2000 to retire, instead became Director of Information Systems for an International not for profit organization. Retired in 2010, moved to Safford, Arizona. He is listed in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry 1981-82, Who’s Who in the West 1980-81, Who’s Who in the West 1982-83. He is a licensed commercial pilot, Commercial Radio Operator License, Extra Class Radio Operator License, Navy Marine Corps Military Auxiliary Radio System License, and a Volunteer Examiner for the American Radio Relay League. He enjoys gardening, RV vacationing, Cruising, and activity in his Church. His wife Barbara passed away in 1990, and his current wife is Betty (Perkins) Fleming.
