Today's Featured Biography
Debbie (Debra) Bauguess
I graduated from Chico State College in 1978 and have been a Registered Nurse since the summer of 1978. I worked 1.5 years in Pinole at Doctors Hospital and married my college boyfriend. We moved to Mt. Shasta Calif. for 4.5 years, where I worked in a combined (4 bed)ICU/CCU. I divorced in 1984, my husband became Schizophrenic and I now know how a "battered wife" feels. I've been at Mercy San Juan Hospital (in Sacramento) since 1984 in the Coronary Care Unit and love the job and the people I work with. I teach EKG's, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Intra aortic Balloon Pumping for Arrow International and work in the occasional Cardiologist's office in my spare time. I hike, ski and camp in the Sierras and at the ocean every chance I get. I have a little black cat named "Angel", and no children. I miss many good friends from Vanden days, quite often. Some, like Cheri Viers, will never be forgotten. As of 7/24/08, I have 3 furry babies - Whiskers, Lily and still Angel. They keep me young. I have learned that old (Vanden) friendships never die, they are there forever - Paul Baczewski - will always be special to my heart, as are every single one of the '73 Vikes!! As of 2011 my ICU unit changed to a Neuro Surgical/Stroke Intensive Care Unit. I'm an old dog learning new tricks. Our unit is part of the hospital's Northern California Comprehensive Stroke Center designation. It means we're, unfortunately very busy. I'm praying to last about 5 more years and retire. My mom and dad are in their 80's, now and taking more of my time, but I'm lucky to still have them. My faith in God is stronger than ever and gets me through the days.
