Today's Featured Biography
William DAVIS
Went to UCSC after high school, took a year off in 1967 to hitch hike across the US and live in the Haight Ashbury, graduated highest honors in Philosophy in 1970 (quit science after 3 months at UC, highest honors was reduced to honors as punishment for radical student anti-war activities on campus -- he he/LOL some things never change).
Became a gardener/landscaper contractor, worked for Steven Wozniak the Apple founder, in the 1970s and travelled and worked in Europe, North Africa, Mexico, China and eventually returned to college in 1978 - 1980 or so, to earn two more BAs which I should be finishing in the next year or two at UCSC in Sociology and Legal Studies.
Went to law school and raised my daughter through most of the 1980s and then passed the Bar in 1987, was hired to do trade negotiations with China and to then help as the attorney vice president of a start up health care medical company in San Diego area, then took a job as a member of a law firm and did quite well but decided to move on to the SF Bay area and work in the internet law, intellectual property law area.
After all that, got sick of large urban life and moved to little ole Redding, CA, and ended up being a hired gun for other attorneys -- briefing and arguing their cases in the California courts and federal courts, and dealing with government regulatory permits and issues on behalf of citizens. I did a lot of appeals law work then and do now and am semi-retired (not taking individual clients but working solely for other attorneys unless a regular person really needs help).
I will continue to do the law and fight the good fights for the regular people of this country till I am dead, I figure. I do not like Obama or the Democratic Party, I do like independents and Libertarian politics in the US today.
Not planning on passing away soon, as WC Fields had written on his tomb stone (according to what I remember) "All things considered I'd rather be in Philadelphia."
Serving and helping people who are in trouble, in all kinds of matters, is the big rewarding thing I have done in my life so far, and I look forward to the rest of it doing the same and more. Studying and practicing Buddhism for many years now, so I am not as rude or obnoxious as I perceive myself to have been in high school and am incredibly happy to be alive and able to do things I really want to do because I have the income to do them and the health.
My daughter repaid me for my sins as a teenager in spades, so it must be genetic to rebel and seek out skating disasters as a youthful pre-occupation. She has settled down a lot now and helps me with my organic gardens and animals, I hate Monsanto and GMO stuff and processed totally unhealthy foods. So this could ramble on forever, so much for now, may be at the reunion -- not sure but have a good time one and all -- great high school class and time to have been alive as a teen. See you all later.
