Today's Featured Biography

James Green

Jim is a Retired Director of Operations with 50 years in the industry and more than 40 years of management experience in the hospitality industry. He has proven expertise in business operations, P&L management, auditing, quality control and staffing. He has highly successful track record in both start-up and turnaround roles propelling multiple business units to dramatic increases in room revenue and profitability. As Director of Operations he managed 12 hotels.

Jim is known for his ability to consistently build and lead high performing teams to achieve excellence in customer satisfaction and brand standards. Jim is an award-winning business and community leader with a comprehensive background.

Jim's specialty is in secondary and tertiary markets with limited all suites to full-service hotels, ranging from 102 to 300 room hotel, including meeting space from 500 to 25000 square feet.

Jim initiated first web site for the Yuma property in 1997 registering www.innsuites.com. In 1999 the new CFO and new President realized, that had been fortuitous since www.innsuiteshotels.com was already taken. This became crucial with the explosive growth of the internet as the next battleground.

Jim performed due diligence on the acquisition of Buena Park property and became General Manager. He changed the entire staff, hired two salespersons, implemented the necessary controls and proceeded to renovate a third of the guest rooms. This resulted in sales of $1.985M in 12 months.

Jim reorganized the San Diego property including removing 90% of the staff, training new staff, hiring a second salesperson and changing the pricing strategy. This resulted in gross sales of $2.450M in the first 12 months of operations from $925K in the previous year before purchase.

Jim as Director of Operations grew Company-wide gross operating profits by $1.9M in the first year with his team by rewriting sales plans, replacing three General Managers.

There is a secret sauce in managing all aspects of a hotel. You treat employees and guests with respect and let the employees do their job. Just get out of the way. Also understand how important reputation and relationships are with all whom you interact with. It is hard work, but it is that simple.

Managing hotels requires a specific passion and focus.

Once you realize it is time to retire, you retire. Jim retired and now lives in Tucson in charge of nothing. Enjoying every moment of life.
