Today's Featured Biography
Diane Roland Bruning
I was born in Reading, PA and migrated with my family at the age of 5 to Yuma, AZ. Prior to that we had lived in Philadelphia where my Daddy was a Popsicle man while studying dentistry. When I was 2 he was called back into service as a Pilot for the U.S. Air Force and while stationed in Las Vegas, Nevada I was baptized in Sin City. Crazy, huh? I attended Crane School until 4th grade where my mother was on the PTA board. Following a PTA Meeting where a mother bit the superintendent, Mr. Suverkrup. The next thing I knew I was in Immaculate Conception Catholic School and went from the “in-crowd” to the shy girl who was the only non-Catholic besides her 8th grade brother. 7th & 8th grades found me at St. Francis Catholic School where I had a shot of coming out of my shell as a Cheerleader … I made the squad! No doubt aided by my ability to do the splits with 8 years of ballet under my tutu … that is until the Nuns put the kibosh on cheer uniforms. We decided against jumps and splits in our pleated, plaid skirts. I remember my Yuma High School years with great fondness. I had the time of my life, still shy, but loved participating in Twerp & Twitter days, going to plays in Snider Auditorium, taking in the football games, watching the marching band perform, cheering for the home team, and doing the twist, watusi, mashed potato, jerk and slow dancing in the cafeteria after. Saturday nights you’d find me at the YAK Club where I served on the council to help plan their events. Yes, that’s how much I loved/love dancing. I was blessed to meet my husband in 1978. He is from Boston, MA so I like to say the girl from PA married the boy from MA. I have traveled as far south as Puerto Vallarta, as far north as Alaska, as far west as Oahu and far east as Boston. I love cruising in BIG ships. If it’s not bigger than the creatures below, I’ll take a pass. My greatest joy is being first a mom, then a grandma. While I can’t say I was the best at being a mom, I did do the best I could. Much wisdom and acquired patience later I believe I am better suited to grand parenting. I have enjoyed tracking down classmates for the reunion and working with my partner in crime, John Solakiewicz. My husband asks me, “What are you going to do after the reunion?” Well, my Sweet Prince, that’s easy … “I’m finally going to go rock babies at a local postnatal ward”.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
