After graduating from ASU in 1972, I taught at Phoenix Indian High School for a year before getting a job teaching Journalism and English Greenway High School for 35 years where I advised the newspaper. I retired from there in 2008 but went to Dysart Unified School District to become their first Language Arts Specialist for K-12 for six years and then a 21st Century Specialist (don't ask!) for two more years. Currently, I consult part-time for Empower Educational Consulting working most of the time in Gallup. I'm also very involved in the state (AIPA) and national (JEA) scholastic journalism groups.
My wonderful husband, whom I married in l971, is retired but does the driving when we go to Gallup. We have two terrific sons, Brian (associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania) and Kirk (manager at Daisy foods in Casa Grande). Both boys have two sons aged 7 and 9.5. We love spending time with the two in town - even though we've never gotten to buy anything pink. :)
We also love travelling and just spent a fun week in Nashville and Memphis. We've been abroad several times and will cruise to Cuba in December, but my dream would be to spend a month in Tuscany, Italy.
I've missed the last two reunions, so I look forward to seeing everyone this time!
