Today's Featured Biography

Amy McKinley Sheesley

Inspired by our 50th reunion, I started to work on my personal bio. I have only accounted for events up to the time I moved to Bisbee. That was when I was in 8th grade. My early childhood me memories are wholesome and lengthy and not included here.
My professional bio is up to date and has a good summary of now and the past and who I am now. Thus, I am going to use parts of the bio for this report.
There are additional lives experiences that I would like you to know about and I am including some of the magical moments that come to mind right now:
1. Meeting my husband Dan on a blind date my freshman year in college
2. When we were 21 we lived in Savanah Georgia and I invited my girlfriend to a night club. She was a charge nurse on the unit in the Savannah hospital and I was also a charge nurse. I nursed for 8 years before I moved on.
3. Dan, my husband of one year, returning alive and wiser about possible ways to treat others after serving a year in Viet Nam.
3. When I was 29 and Dan was in Veterinary School we had two lovely young daughters. My point of view was forever altered one night when I spent the night with a “MIND OF LIGHT” not my human mind. Until today that experience has sustained me. My health and well-being have been amazingly good to date. On the other hand I am keenly aware no one is promised tomorrow.
4. We spent the summer of 1975 in Kauai, that too, changed our life trajectory and we spent 14 tropical winters in the different places we lived overtime.
5. In 1981 while living in Puerto Rico we had our son, Morgan, at home. Our daughters, my husband and “the midnight mother” attended the lovely birth.
6. Dan and I have been engaged in transformational conversations with emphasis on the science of being for the last 50 years.
7. Today we are on the board of directors for Couples Coaching Couples which an amazing conversation for committed couples who are interested in extra ordinary relationships. We are packing 2 poems we authored about us as couple. We’ll be glad to read those to you.
8. Our journey to the Bisbee High Reunion started from our home in Washington DC, Aug 14th when we attended my husband’s 50th in Center, Colorado (we were both born there). We will visit with all of our siblings and many of our nieces and nephews, friends and at this writing are enjoying several days in Steamboat Springs on our way to Bisbee.
Presently the focus of my work and my life is to make a positive and profound difference in people’s lives. I promise to bring real, measurable content to people’s financial lives based on the economic realities of how financial tools are supposed to work together to create bigger results. When you work with me, we will begin with your purpose in mind and then align your assets to efficiently fund your life and your retirement.
I earned a Master’s degree in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University and a baccalaureate degree from the University of Colorado. I have given hundreds of College Planning Workshops, am an internationally published author, and own my own business. I hold a Spanish Language Certificate from the Instituto de Lingua Española, San Jose Costa Rica. After completion of my curriculum for Certified Financial Planner, Registered Financial Consultant, and Certified College Planning Specialist I have continued to study, learn and grow intent on giving people current information and choice.
I hold a Life/Health and Annuity Insurance license and am an Investment Advisor Representative with Series 7 and 66. I have served on the board of directors for the Greater Washington Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and NABO. I am a member of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants and The Million Dollar Round Table.
Dr. Dan Sheesley, my generous husband of 48 years, is my rock and inspiration. Together they serve on the board of directors for Couples Coaching Couples. For over two decades, Dan, a veterinarian and member of the US Diplomatic Corps, along with me and our three beloved children have lived and worked on assignment at home in Washington, D.C., and in their homes in Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Costa Rica, Mexico and Belgium.
Family is the light of my life and I celebrate the expansion to include my clients, my garden, our 3 energetic, lovely children, plus 7 fantastic grandchildren and 3 committed, vibrant sons and daughter in loves too. To enrich and vitalize her life I garden (to feed the deer it seems), practices prayer, laughter and Yoga. A goof bike ride or hike with friends makes for a great day!
