Today's Featured Biography
Abby Yurkosky Morton
Hi all--
I didn't actually graduate from WHS, I moved to England senior year. After graduation, I went to Munich for two years. Finished college at Texas A&M, which is a long story in itself. Moved to Austin, which was much more my speed (and crunchy political leaning) and waited tables for a year while trying to find a teaching job, with no luck. Ended up moving to DC where I went to culinary school and worked as a pastry chef for almost two years. Got sick of being poor, so I moved in with Mom & Dad in Massachusetts and started teaching high school physical science. After 3 years, got the itch again and moved to San Diego, pretty much just for the hell of it. While there, I got back in touch (online) with an old friend from senior year in England. He & I ended up moving to Los Angeles together for two years, where I continued to teach. In summer '03 we moved to MA where we bought an overpriced condo that we love, a neurotic shelter dog that we (usually) love, and got engaged on the 4th of July the following year. Can't stay away from those brats!
Our wedding was July 22nd, 2005, and I had our first child on Nov. 18th '06. Her name is Alexandra, which is a Russian name, the nickname for which is Sasha. As a nod to our European upbringing and my obsession with Germany, we're spelling her nickname Sascha. Here's a link to pictures: http://s113.photobucket.com/albums/n204/mizmorton/Sascha/
I've been teaching for 8 years; now it's HS earth science. I have juniors and seniors and I'm having a blast. Nick teaches English at a middle school in the same town, which is fantastic. We know the same people and have the same schedules, not to mention the same job gripes and triumphs.
Like my sister said (on the '88 site), I look the same, minus the '80s hair and plus a few more wrinkles. Hope to hear from more people!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
