After graduation from SPHS I went to the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse where I not only honed my beer drinking skills but also managed to get a degree in teaching Social Studies grades 7-12 with minors in Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, and History. Can you see why it took me 5.5 years to obtain that B.S. degree?
Upon graduation I served in the US Peace Corps living in The Gambia, a small country on the West Coast of Africa for 2.5 years. I lived in a hut with no running water or electricity and learned to speak a tribal language called Mandinka. Learned a whole lot about the world during my tenure as a Environmental Education and Forestry volunteer. Also got the opportunity to travel all throughout West Africa and then Europe on my way home from completing service.
Upon return from the USPC I attempted to live in PDS, WI but found it to be just too cold and after a few months packed up everything I owned and moved to the Bay Area. Once here I held a variety of jobs: teaching at a camp, working at a coffee shop, and teaching high school social studies. For the past 10 years I have been working at Genentech, a biotechnology company in South San Francisco where I am currently a Production Manager for our Commercial Products. It's a 24/7 365 operation so I don't get a whole lot of sleep! One cool benefit of this company is every 6 years you receive a sabbatical (6 weeks off with pay!) and last time I went to Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, and New Zealand traveling. Next sabbatical it is off to South America!
My partner Becky and I are in the process of organizing our wedding which will take place in June of 2007 here in Northern California. We met three years ago and couldn't be happier together. She is from Michigan. We live in San Francisco with our three cats. It's a great city and love living here!
I have also become an avid yogi practing anusara yoga several times a week. Becky and I also enjoy running together and trained for my first 1/2 marathon last year. I also love to cook and have become vegetarian the past few years. We get back to the midwest once per year to see our families. Looking forward to seeing everyone as a lot of time has passed! I'm the one in the red jacket by the way!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
