Soon after High School, I joined the Navy. I was in the Navy for 4 years. It was truly an adventure. I met many interesting people and saw many exotic places. I was very proud to serve my country.
While in the Navy, I began lifting weights. I bulked up to 295 lbs of pure muscle. After an onshore skirmish with a Samoan in Hawaii, my friends urged me to begin fighting professionally. Looking back, that was the start of my cage fighting career.
In 1992, I moved to Phuket, Thailand and enrolled in the Tiger Muay Thai Mixed Martial Arts camp. This is where I trained and lived for the next 8 years. It totally transformed my life. Master instructor, Ajam Mac took me under his wing and became my personal mentor. I was his only student in his 40 years of teaching to master the specialized technique of Ram Muay Wai Kru. In an emotional closing ceremony, Master Ajam annointed me "Muhsin Bangla" which, in English translates to "The Mullmeister." Before coming back to the U.S. I fought professionally in Patong, Ko Samui, and Bangkok where I left with a perfect 78-0 record.
In 2001, I returned to the U.S. and settled in Hollywood, California. I continued cagefighting, steamrolling my opponents with the techniques I learned in Thailand. I took the U.S. by surpise, for they have never seen an American fighter with this much muscle mass and Eastern finesse moves. My ranking immediately skyrocketed to #16 in the world. Some of my biggest victories included wins over Alistair Overeem, Tim Sylvia, and Junior Dos Santos. While fighting Randy Couture, I was 'discovered' by a Hollywood casting agent from Paramount Pictures. Because of my striking resemblance to many Hollywood A-listers, she persuaded me to take acting classes. I immediately enrolled in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts to hone my new craft.
While enrolled, I began acting as a body double and stuntman for Antonio Banderas. My credits include significant roles in "Original Sin," "Bordertown," and "Once upon a Time in Mexico." Word spread quickly through Hollywood of my abilities and I soon signed a 5 year contract with Steven Seagal Productions. You may have seen my work in "Above the Law," "Hard to Kill," "Out for Justice," and "Under Siege 2: Dark Territory" just to name a few. Needless to say, I graduated top in my class in 2004 and I have had no trouble finding work, even in this economy.
I have truly lived a charmed life. I have seen the world, mingled with celebrities, known the feeling of a packed stadium chanting my name, and walked the red carpet with Antonio and Melanie. But through it all, I remain a humble, approachable, gentleman. If you see me, please do not hesitate to say hello. You most likely will have to tell me who you are, and it may take a moment for me to recognize you, as high school seems so distant to me after all I've experienced in my life. I do however enjoy coming home and spending time among the regular and common people of the Midwest. I haven't forgotten my roots.
Hope all is well with everyone, take care, Sean.
