2016 - Class Web Site Award |
|
|
Our web site has had over 30,000 visits! And a large part of that number is due to the efforts of the G-Man, alias Gary Henline. Through his efforts by commenting each day about the featured classmate as well as reminding everyone of the upcoming special 50th Reunion, he has contributed immensely to the successful continuation of our web site. He has contributed many stories, poems and other zany writings--all of which brought smiles and hearty laughter to all of us readers.
G-Man's award has the TVHS mascot, the mighty Bulldog, showcasing the great performing G-Man. G-Man's efforts resemble those of the tenacious Bulldog as well as other K9s! The tireless pursuit of classmates to contribute comments to the web site and attend this 50th Reunion reminds me of the persistence of the fabled mountain coon hound. Never giving up the chase until the coon, classmate in this case, is left with only very few options. And always being loyal to memories and cherished friendships of Tygarts Valley High School he is like the 'ole farm collie'.
It has taken a special individual to continuously inform and entertain us through our class web site. G-Man is that special person,
G-Man, Thank You and Well Done.
Cheers!

Today's Featured Biography
John Spencer
Upon graduating in 1966 and not wanting to look for summer employment, I joined the U.S. Army after only 5 days of freedom. I didn't necessarily want to "be all I could be", but I did want to see all I could see. I attended language school in Monterey CA for a year after basic training and learned the Vietnamese language. Guess where I ended up! Spent 2 eventful years in beautiful Southeast Asia and learned to love rice. Began dating Cynthia Gum on leave before going to Viet Nam and she stuck it out and waited for me through many escapades that will probably be leaked by all my friends, acquaintances, enemies, family and my own alter ego who can't keep his mouth shut sometimes.
Cynthia and I were married shortly after my return from the troubles in VN and settled into domestic life that came with its own set of problems early on ending with us taking care of my brother and sisters for a couple of years after the death of my father and mother in 1970 & 1971.
In 1972 we were blessed with our only daughter, Adrienne Michael, who has in turn blessed us with 3 grandchildren; Kalin, 11; Eli, 9; and Abigail, 4. Adrienne teaches Spanish at the Elkins Middle School.
Cynthia graduated from D & E College with a degree in Nursing and worked as an RN for many years.
I have worked mostly in banking during my work years. I am currently retired, but still looking for work. Cynthia doesn't need as much help around the house as I have to offer. Fortunately, my grandchildren force me to do some fun things like fishing, riding roller coasters, wearing myself out at water parks, that kind of thing.
I enjoy playing music with various groups and individuals on an intermittent basis. I play guitar. Not great, but I seem to enjoy it, so I continue. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
