Today's Featured Biography
Kathy Keckeisen
I have had a very exciting, wild and eclectic life. I was supposed to go to college but met somebody and dropped out to get married. Didn’t happen. I then traveled, failed as a hippie, and ended up enlisting in the Navy because I could not afford to get back into college. The Navy was wonderful except for one thing. While walking back to the barracks one night I was attacked and raped. So I became a fag head for a while. Now that was fun.
I’ve lived in 8 different states, military service (Naval Reserve), marriage (twice), children (5), divorce (twice), grandchildren (8), an education, a great career and pretty good health. I have a motorcycle and can drive anything up to and including a semi. I love tattoos and have several. I have had some of the strangest jobs. Bagging ice in a freezer was the worst. I’ve done and accomplished more than I ever thought I could or would. I have also experienced more pain, suffering and happiness than I thought was possible. I was able to get my education one course at a time it took me 30 years to get my Masters. I have been a liberal activist since the 70’s. I've also been told I'm a triple A type personality. That personality gave me a Takotsubo, coma and anoxic brain injury in 2016. When I woke up, it was like I was born again. So I had to start over. I have spent the last 5 years in rehab of one form or another. I am left with a loss of my Memories, Executive Functions, have Expressive Aphasia and I lost my filter. I found out who my true friends were. The ones that stuck around and did not let me feel sorry for myself or let me slip into the pit of despair.
