Today's Featured Biography
Paula Young Ashworth
After living in SE Texas for over 30 years, we retired and built a farmhouse on family property belonging to my husband's family. While building, I submitted my business card to an attendant at Biltmore Estate (I have been visiting there almost every year for the past 30 years). It was passed up the line to the Special Projects Department and I have been working for them for 4 1/2 years now. I average working 2 weekends a month, 4 or 5 hour shifts, on the months the Historic Horse Barn is open to the public. I do anything they ask me to do that the farm wives could have done. I've made soap and candles, done quilting, knitting,rug hooking, spinning, weaving, etc.
I have owned 10 Shetland sheep (one died in Nov.2007 and 2 ate themselves to death in Nov.2008, one was stolen) for three years now, and I am hoping for babies after Mar. 30, 2007( had 3 all boys, needed a girl!). The plan is to get my granddaughter involved in 4-H. My business name is Lady Slipper Studio and Farm. I have used this name since 1979 for all the many skills I have taught. I don't have a web site. I take great joy out of processing the wool into a useful article straight from the sheep's back to mine. I have been blessed to win ribbons here at the Mt. State Fair for the past couple of years, and in Texas also. I have even taken a few "Best of Show" and "Judge's Choice" ribbons.
I publish an annual Christmas news letter that tells more. If anyone wants more info, send me your email and I'll forward it. I'm told it is quite humorous.
