Hi Classmates!
Just a brief update -- last February, we finally sold our house in New Orleans and came out to San Diego area, where Dorothy and I have settled in a lovely home in a northern suburb of San Diego called Poway. Name comes from a Native American word for the area "Pauguay" -- area was pretty much unsettled desert till they brought in water from the Colorado River, then became avocado orchards, which are still here to some extent. But now it's a very nice residential area, with everything one could need, pretty much, in order to live reasonably. We have a huge yard with many fruit trees and rose bushes and other plants of all sorts. So I am doing a lot of gardening! Just bought a lime tree, so in the future, we will be able to easily get fruit to go with the Mexican food I am learning how to cook. My sons live about 30 miles from us, one in a beach village called Encinitas and the other, with his family, in La Jolla. We see them fairly often.
Still miss New Orleans, though the weather is better here and I love all the organic foods and ethnic restaurants -- finding people friendly and pleasant. Dorothy goes to a senior center, which is OK but not as good for her as the one in New Orleans, which had more activities she could do. But she did win $145 at bingo a few months ago! I still do some work for Tulane, mostly by e-mail, with occasional conferences -- though I am winding down to real retirement.
We have been exploring the area - ocean, harbor, parks, etc. -- drove up to Death Valley last month to meet up with friends from Santa Barbara and explore the area: very interesting and beautiful in its way. Recognized some scenes from there in The Tree of Life film that was up for an Academy Award (didn't win, though!)
Dorothy and I will be going back to New Orleans in April/May to go to JazzFest and see friends -- son David will join us for part of the visit. Looking forward to breathing in the wonders and beauty of the city. No place like New Orleans! And JazzFest is going to be fabulous this year!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
