Margie SALISBURY Foland
Hi!
Since I missed the reunion, I thought I'd write a little bit about what's gone with me over the last 40 years. After graduating, I went to Eastern Washington State College and started out majoring in music and minoring in drama. Well, eventually I changed to a double major.. drama and communications with a K-12 Education degree. I sang in show groups, choirs,and acted in plays and musicals in college and eventually went on 2 USO tours;one was to the Pacific (Korea, Guam, Okinawa, Phillipines, Japan....) and the other was to bases all over Germany and Italy.
I met my husband Wayne in college and we married in 1972. He recently retired from the City of Cheney as the Park Supervisor and I am still teaching middle school(drama, language arts, U.S. History, literature,and a school leadership class.)This is my 34th year and I haven't decided when I'm going to stop. I still connect to the kids, and they to me. Besides, I think they keep me young. Nothing like an 8th grader's energy and sense of humor to either drive you insane or keep you on your toes! I directed plays and musicals for years and was the Activities Coordinator for our school organizing assemblies and big events. I still do a huge talent show in the spring and write about 1/2 the acts that are performed. I received my Masters in Administration and Curriculum from Gonzaga quite a while back and wrote a play focused on At-Risk kids for my Master's Thesis.
I have one daughter, Megan, who graduated from Eastern with two degrees, and she is now a loan officer in a credit union pursuing a third degree in accounting. She married last summer, and her husband is a firefighter in Cheney. I have travelled quite a bit...four times to London to see shows and have gone on several European adventures with a variety of friends. I went to Cabo for the first time during spring break with a close friend and loved it!!!!!!!My family means everything to me and so do my friends. I'm lucky to have such great support. I love to read, watch movies, shop, hit estate sales, go antiquing, cook, get together with friends, drink good wine, go to Broadway shows, plays, dinner theate, concerts, and work out when I can get the ambition to do so.
We also have a place on the Pend O'reille River where we spend time now and then relaxing. Well.....I'm boring myself so I think I'll shut up now and stop babbling about my past. It's hard to put 40 years of one's life in such a short space. It doesn't cover all the joys and sadly, the tragedies that occur. But, one must move on, forge ahead, climb those mountains, swim those oceans, soar through space, ride the bronco......OK! I'm done. See ya!!! Margie
