Today's Featured Biography
Stephen Hyde
Hey everyone! Well, to catch everyone up on what's been happening with me. After I graduated from BHS, I took a year off and relaxed. After which, I recieved a scholarship to Bates Technical College in Tacoma. I went and took the broadcasting course there for 2 years and got my Associates of Technology degree. I started working on-call at KBTC-TV (which is owned by Bates) in the summer of 2001 as a Master Control Operator. The following year, in February 2002, I got hired on as an on-call in Master Control at KCPQ/KTWB-TV (Q13 Fox/WB22 Cable 10). I currently work at both places part-time, and I love it. Especially during the summer when everyone goes on vacation. I can end up working as much as 9 days in a row during those times, and make lots of $$$$$.
Who would have thought, that on the senior cruise, when I saw Q13's studios across the water when we were on the boat on Lake Union, that I would actually be working there a couple years later.
Coiencedently, one of my co-workers at KCPQ/KTWB, John Strand, went to school with Ryan Nickles, who is the current instructor of the TV productions class at BHS... Small world... lol
After I got "released" from Q13 FOX at the end of 2004, I continued at KBTC-TV in Tacoma, where then I got laid off from in late 2006. Even though the new digital Master Control there took my job, I have no regrets about working there, and maybe if there's another position I can get into there at KBTC, i'd be more than happy to accept it and work there again. There's lots of great people that I enjoyed working with there.
In fall of 2007, I took a job as a game tester at Nintendo Of America, in Redmond, WA. The job is on a project-by-project basis, so there are times where I may not be working there, but it's still a good temporary job for those times i'm not working.
