Today's Featured Biography
James Phillips
My wife, Alma, and I met at UTA in the late 50s. We have two children and one grandchild. Alma taught in the Austin Schools before we moved to upstate NY. We moved to Palo Alto, CA in 1972 and remain there now.
I retired in 1954 as a line executive with Lockheed in the company’s Space Systems Division having spent 37 years in systems development with General Electric, LTV, and Lockheed. In the past 30 years I have served on various non-profit boards including chairing the Palo Alto Family YMCA, Peninsula Habitat for Humanity, and Avenidas our senior center, and on the boards of the YMCA Mid-Peninsula, Palo Alto Community Child Care, Foundation for a College Education, One Dollar for Life, and the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto where I'm a past president. I hold a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from UTA and served on the EE department's Industry Visiting Committee in the early 80s.
