Today's Featured Biography
Shirley Gillespie Dyess
In 1953, I married Bob Hull. We lived in Baytown, TX, most of our years where he was a Research Chemist with Exxon. Bob died much too young on the tennis court (cardiac arrest) in 1984.
I moved back to Austin, worked for Texas Employment Commission as a tax examiner for a number of years, then changed jobs to work at UT-Austin until I retired in 2006.
Ten days after retirement, I married Stewart Dyess and moved to Lubbock, TX. Also a member of the Class of '52 , Stu was my first boyfriend in junior high. His first wife of nearly 50 years died of cancer in 2004.
Stewart received his PhD from Texas Tech Univ. and continued working there until his retirement in 1987. Stewart was Asst. Head of Library Services at Tech, and in this capacity was responsible for building the beautiful 90,000 sq. foot addition to the Texas Tech library.
Together we have four children, all married, and ten grandchildren.
Other than sharing life and laughter with our family and friends, travel in any form is our favorite pastime.
We have a little conflict on colleges, but we both agree on "Loyal Forever."
