Today's Featured Biography
Neil Robertson Obama
Since we graduated from Tascosa in May 1978, I've lived in Fort Worth, TX during my 4 years at TCU. Why I pushed right on through to a BA in 4 years I do not know - college life was ideal! I still wish I were living in the man (boy) cave off the TCU campus with my buddies right now!
Then I moved directly to Austin in 1982 and lived full-time or maintained my permanent address there for the next 22 years with temporary stints as a citizen of New York City (1985-1989) and Washington, DC (1993-1996). But even then, I would travel back to my permanent home in Austin at least twice monthly.
I was married to a gal from Pampa (class of 1984). We met in 1990 in Austin while both lobbying at the state capitol, moved in together in 1991, got married in 1995 and divorced in 2000. Wow, that was quick. We both traveled on political campaigns perhaps 75% of the time so there was not enough time to have kids - unless we wanted to conceive in the restroom of a commercial jet liner flying over some ocean back and fourth from Austin or DC...but we had a heck of alot of fun traveling together and practicing conceiving offspring - frequently - must have been the high altitude or living in exotic hotels all the time!
I recently am spending all of 2010 living in hotel rooms across America on the 2010 election cycle campaign trail for my company politicalproductions.com.
Now, I live most of the time (non-election years)on my organic herb farm in Ranchos de Taos, NM with my four dogs and work as a ski instructor at Taos Ski Valley and Telluride, Colorado during the winter months. Come late October annually my farm, Dharma Farm, holds a great harvest and small intimate harvest festival attended by an eclectic mix of migrant harvest workers, local Taosian artisans, Taos Pueblo native Americans, fellow ski bums and other odd friends of mine.
When I'm not there, I can be found in Amarillo during the fall months writing my weekly blog and reporting about Panhandle high school football and Big 12 football for texasfootball.com. I'm in the pressbox at Dick Bivins Stadium most Friday nights during the season and traveling to NCAA Division I stadiums for ESPN GameDay as a UPM. Come on by and I'll buy you a chili cheese dog and pour you a single-barrel bourbon.
LATE-BREAKING NEWS: Through a mutually beneficial business arrangement, I've had my last name legally changed (hypenated) to "Obama" at least through the 2012 Presidential election.
