Today's Featured Biography
Denise Bernard Mitchell
After graduating from Overton in 1978, I attended Memphis State for three semesters before I realized I wasn't ready to take college seriously and didn't have a clue what I wanted to be when I grew up. I married my first husband, Kyle, in 1987 and we lived in Texas, Tennessee, Colorado, Ohio, and Illinois before returning to Texas in 1999. We had four great kids together and divorced just recently. Autumn, 24, lives in Ft. Collins, CO and attends CSU where she is majoring in French with plans to teach in the future. Alyssa, 20, is engaged and pregnant with my first grandbaby and due in August. Alex, 18, is a senior in high school and planning to go to college and major in CIS (Computer Information Systems). Andrew, 15, is a freshman. He was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age two and dealing with the day in-day out challenges that go along with that has been a struggle for us. He plans to go into nursing as a career so he can use his experience to help other kids. After being a stay-at-home mom for many years, I finally decided what I want to be when I grow up. I'm in the Emergency Medicine program at our local community college and will graduate with a degree in Paramedicine in May, 2010.
