Today's Featured Biography
Chris Dorton
Two Children "Carter & Maddie"
I work at the Bristol Herald Courier as the Director of Audience Growth & Distribution.
Earned a degree in Production Horticulture and worked in that field from High School graduation until May of 2000.
Began working with the Media and the Bristol Herald Courier in 2000 as a District Sales Manager. Then in 2007, accepted a position with CNHI - The Bluefield Daily Telegraph. In 2009, came back to the Bristol Herald Courier where I remain today.
Besides the black hair fading to gray and my frame aging a bit, I am the same guy I was in 1992. I still love to Fish, camp, and be outdoors. I bought a Mandolin my Junior Year of High School, and am stilll learning to play. My friend and I managed to create a band of 4 from just us two. A few funny voices, one talented guy and one that is not "me" and the Bluefield Bluegrass Band was born. I suppose it is more of a comedy act than music.. Somehow, a DJ in Canada ran across us and asked to play us on Canadian radio and stream across the web. Imagine the shock to hear on World-Wide streaming radio, "Coming up next for our friends down in Virginia, the Bluefield Bluegrass Band"... We made a few cd's from home and pretty much privately listen in the car.. that was that... We made a FB page, had some songs uploaded but they vanished with the FB updates...
I have added backpacking to my list and along with my fiance' Melissa, I am a section hiker on the AT. Our goal is to hike the entire Va. Highlands section this year, and begin to work on the Southern Mountain sections from the Smokies to Damascus next year.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
