Glenn Carlson
Here is my biography as given at my installation at the Grand Lodge also known as my GM Obituary..... :)
Brother Glenn Scott Carlson was born in Providence, R.I. on January 14, 1963 the son of Herman Louis and Pauline Marie (Durfee) Carlson, the youngest of three sons.
He was educated in the Cranston Public School system and graduated from Cranston High School East where he enjoyed physics, chemistry and architectural drawing.
Glenn married the former Dawn Marie Trudell in Cranston, R.I. on September 7 of 1986 and their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Chelsea Marie and Adriana Elizabeth. In 1988, Glenn and Dawn moved to West Warwick their present residence.
Glenn was a member of the former Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council for many years and taught Sunday school where his daughters attended and were confirmed. He is now a communicant of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Warwick.
His work ethics has taken Glenn in many directions beginning work in his father’s shop at Norton Safety Products making various pieces of safety equipment. Always having his sights on becoming an architect a new program at New England Institute for Technology called Electronic Technology was of great interest. He switched majors and graduated from New England Institute of Technology with an Associates Degree in Electronics. He met with the owners of Chuck E. Cheese Pizza Time Theatre and was hired as a supervisor in charge of the Point of Sale Systems and worked on the production of the Elnicky robots. Before the establishment was built he worked on the construction crew of Chuck E. Cheese, he worked diligently on all phases of construction and finishing work. Once the theatre opened he quickly moved up the ranks with Showtime Theater and had responsibility of three stores, this is also where he met his wife to be.
Glenn joined the Coporate Office of Cranston Print Works in January of 1986 as a Communications Technician advancing to a the position of Senior Network Administrator. While at Cranston Print he received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems and was the President of the Corporate Office Supervisors Association and the Employee Stock Ownership Plan representative. He retired from Cranston Print Works in January of 2018. He is currently employed at the University of Rhode Island as a member of the Information and Technology Support Team in the Collage of Biotechnology and Life Sciences.
He began his Masonic career journey by joining Manchester Lodge No.12 in 1996 and signed the by-laws in March of 1997. He became Worshipful Master of the lodge in 2000. He continued to serve his lodge as Secretary from 2001 to 2014. Glenn was awarded Mason of the Year from his lodge in 1999 and in 2006.
He holds additional membership in St. Johns Lodge Number One Providence and is an honorary member of Moriah Lodge No. 15 in Brooklyn, Ct. and the Grand Lodge of Ohio. He is also an Honorary Legion of Honor recipient for DeMolay International and an Honorary Senior DeMolay.
In 2010 Glenn received an appointment in Grand Lodge by Most Worshipful Brother Kenneth N. Bruns, as the District Deputy Grand Master for the Southern Masonic District. He then served the Central, Northern, East Bay and Metro districts and was elected R:.W:. Junior Grand Warden in 2015, R:.W:. Senior Grand Warden in 2016, R:.W:. Deputy Grand Master in 2017 and in November of 2017 was elected Grand Master by his Grand Lodge. He received the Grand Lodge Meritorious Service award in 2006 for his work on the Grand Lodge website.
He is a Royal Arch Mason and holds membership in Scituate Chapter No. 8, and Narragansett Council No. 6. He is a member of St John’s Commandery No. 1 Knights Templar.
He joined the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Providence in 2002 and currently is the Junior Warden in the Chapter of Rose Croix.
Our Brother is a member of the Rhode Island Shriners Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine and Prophet of Moslem Grotto, M.O.V.P.E.R.
He holds additional Masonic memberships as an Associate Member and Past President of the Masonic Secretaries Guild 2013-2015, member of the Masonic Veterans Association and Sword of Bunker Hill, Gaspee Order No. 99.
