Barbara Ness Eckert

I married in 1966 and worked as secretary and notary to my father in laws's salvage yard. We had three sons over the next four years. I became a member of Red Lion Bible Church where I drove school bus for 22 years.
I was their cook and custodian for some years in amongst the bus. In 1980, Barry statred his own salvage yard at our home in Crossroads (Felton). When the boys grew up they became partners in the business and I did the office and notary work. The boys married and I have 11 grandchildren from age 20 to 4. Barry died in 1999 and I have not been able to find my niche since that. I graduated from Yorktowne Business Institute in 2002, but due to ongoing health issues I was unable to do much with my education. I started at the radio station in 2002. From there I worked for a residential care agency until my "bum" knees caught up with me and I had to quit. I then worked for Hanover Direct for almost a year until they closed down the York facility. I really liked that job and planned on retiring from there, but it was not to be. With continuing health issues (arthritis), I went on widow benefits and still work at the radio station part time.
