Today's Featured Biography
Billlie Holland Skinner
My favorite teachers, Mr. Copelin, Mr. Hackler, Mrs. Barney and Mr. Matthews.
Things I remember (which isn't much anymore)Band contests to Craterville. Getting out of class in the 7th and 8th grade to keep the score clock and books for the 9th grade basketball tournaments. Ed Copelin, I believe in the 8th grade deciding to switch letters on our first and second name and mine ended up Jillie Bean. Have no ideal why I remember that.
Places I remember, Teen Town, Dairy Maid, Tastee Freeze, Dairy Queen, Iceberg and Sonic. Wonder why all I remember is the food places. LOL
I got married to Marvin (Pete) Skinner in 1962 We celebrated our 50th anniversary with a beautiful reception and party that our kids planned for us at a local Winery.
In 1965 we moved to Pampa, Tx. where we lived for 40 years. We raised our daughter and two sons there. Pete was a supervisior in the Steel Plant for Cabot Corporation. I mostly ran our cycle shop and car lot. On any Sunday would find us at a motocross track for some 14 years. Tuesday and Thursday we would be at the Optimist club for baseball and softball, in between taxiing kids back in forth to their activities.
When the two oldest graduated and went off to school we traveled a lot all over with the youngest boy racing some more when he graduated in 1988 and went off to school, we traveled all over the United States. Did make it to Hawaii, but I don't care to fly so if couldn't drive to it we didn't get there.
We moved to Burleson, Tx in 2005 where all of our children and grandchildren live. Our daughter and sons and their spouses have presented us with three granddaughters and three grandsons form 13 to 23. Now we live out in the country with our two not quite right Boston Terriers and two miniature donkeys. Have had a great past fifty years and the best husband and family anyone could ask for.
