I graduated from OSU in May of 1967 after cramming 4 years of education into 5. I am now entering my second year of retirement after a 38 year career (mostly in Sand Springs) as a teacher, coach, counselor, principal, and Asst. Supt. Years ago an uncle of mine told me "just as soon as they find out you can't teach or coach they'll make you an administrator". He was pretty much right on. My wife Helen, also a retired principal, and I have a wonderful blended family of 5 daughters. Anyone need wedding advice? We've done 5 in our 15 years of marriage. We have 4 wonderful grandchildren....all gifted beyond measure.....Blake (7), Connor (5), Kamryn (3), and Taylor (3). If anyone wants more detailed info. on my daughters or grandchildren I will be happy to provide at our next class reunion (2011)
Retirement is great! Helen and I travel around the country to see her daughters--Boston, Seattle, & San Francisco. My two daughters and all 4 grandchildren live in the Tulsa area.
In addition to travel I also enjoy golf, fishing, hunting, grandkids' activities, and attending all OSU home football and basketball games. I love my Elk City heritage and have remained close with Dal Shannon, Jim Randall, Ron Engel, Gene Smith, Allen Robinson, and Joe Self and get together with them as often as possible. I would encourage my classmates to attend our next Elk City Class Reunion in 2011. The reunions are great fun and the friendships and memories just keep getting better as time moves on.
