Today's Featured Biography
Jennifer Lynne Lawler
During my first few years at West, I was a JV cheerleader, worked on the "Roar" newpaper as a comic artist, and worked fundraisers with the student government. My foundest memories were getting an A from Mrs Sablich in Algebra, our class reading "Nectar in the Sieve," going to Iguana with the squad, and starting new fashion trends with Sharon Babb (Wanamaker.) I think most people remember sweet little me for slapping Jason what's-his-name on the face while we were riding the bus to school. I was defending my frend from his verbal attack. Does anyone remember the little speckled notebooks we passed around? In my sophmore year, I left my troubled home and lived in several unsafe foster homes until I was old enough to live on my own. It was quite a lesson and I will never assume that people in bad situations are to blame. No one belongs in those situations. I went to Camden County College for a while but had an exciting opportunity to go to England. I worked for the city council for 18 months and learned how the rest of the world sees us Americans. People either really love us or really hate us. I came back in 2000 and have been living in Philadelphia every since. I'm an event planner for the University of Pennsylvania and take free night classes towards my degree. I'm a Junior League of Philadelphia member and through them, I'm a chairperson on a community project-a city-wide talent contest. I'm the director of Stategic Alliances for my industry association. I was nominated for the "Tomorrow's Leader" award by 800 of my fellow members. I'm currently working on a Silent Auction at the National Constitution Center. My goal before I turn 30 is to walk on the Great Wall of China.
