After graduation, I attented UNCW and began working part-time in retail optical with Visionworks. In 1993, after working up to a supervisors position, I became tired of the typical retail hours. Keith Batson(a 1985 Laney graduate) and I were married and I wanted a more stable work schedule. I started working with Coastal Carolina Eye Clinic here in Wilmington and achieved my state certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant in 1994. When I had my son Trevor in 1996, I reduced my hours to part-time. In 1999, while pregnant with my daughter Carli, I began working for Surgical Eye Care. She was born in March of 2000. According to my husband, one boy and one girl is God's way of saying "stop while you are ahead!". Dr. Laura Harris, one of the eye surgeons I worked with, started her own practice in 2008. Our office is located in the Landfall Medical Center, where I srve as clinical coordinator. I love my job and my family enjoys continuing to live in such a great town as Wilmington. My husband Keith, works for Dak Americas (the old Dupont Plant) as a Lab Technician. I miss seeing all my friends from Laney. I guess we all had to grow up and become busy with LIFE!
