Today's Featured Biography
Miriam Moore Testasecca
After graduation, I went to work for Altair Airlines. After the company declared bankruptcy in 1984, I decided to move to Florida, and I have been here ever since.
In 1991 I finally met the love of my life. Rick and I were married in 1992. We have three wonderful children, Bridget (from my previous marriage), Mark and Olivia. The kids are the center of our lives. Bridget is a very bright and focused young woman. She just moved out to go to the University of North Florida. Mark is a very special twelve year old. When he was six he was diagnosed with a very rare tumor in the cervical vertebrae by his spine and main artery. While the tumor was not classified as cancerous, it was very aggressive. We were told that he would die within a few weeks if he didn’t have surgery.
No one wanted to operate because the surgery was so risky. At the last minute, a neuro surgeon from Mayo Clinic operated on our son and saved his life. By the grace of God, Mark survived and was not paralyzed. It took a year before he was fully recovered, but has been healthy ever since. The whole ordeal was such a nightmare, but we all got through it. The Lord has been so good to us! We will never take good health for granted. Our baby, Olivia will be seven soon. She is such a joy. She is little, but very athletic. She always has a smile on her face.
I was a stay at home mom for years. I went back to school and in 2001 I went to work for the St. Johns County School District in Professional Development. I work with every teacher in the county on certification and endorsement issues. I also coordinate trainings for all of the new teachers and teach technology courses that can be used in the classroom. I really enjoy my job. My husband works with abused and neglected boys. Rick is an incredible father to our children and very compassionate with the teens that he works with. We are also animal lovers, we have one dog and five cats. Our lives are very busy and full of happiness.
