The Far Traveler
I have sailed halfway around the world, from the Atlantic coasts of America to the shores of France, Spain and Portugal. I have traversed the Indian Ocean from the equator to the Harsh North Sea far above the Arctic Circle. I have chased Russian submarines through the fiords of Norway and Denmark and down thru the English Channel where I witnessed the White Cliffs of Dover.
I have chased drug smugglers thru the Caribbean.
I have sailed thru the Gibraltar Straights into the Mediterranean Sea, the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Adriatic, down thru the Suez Canal and into the Red Sea, the North Arabian Sea and up into the Persian Gulf. I have visited 13% of the world's countries and 75% of the United States.
I have seen places only dreamed of in movies. I have shopped the Kasbah in Algiers and the Gold Sukes of Iraq and Iran and visited the Ancient Market Place of Petra. I have wagered bets in the Grand Casino of Monte Carlo and the blackjack tables of Paradise Island.
I have been a warrior and held the Priesthood. I have sat in awe at Michelangelo's Pieta. I have wandered the dessert, kneeled and drank my fill from Moses Well.
I have seen the finality of death close-up and delivered the miracle of a new baby.
I have been abandoned, abused, laughed-at and ridiculed. I have stood center stage and preformed as the headliner and opened baseball games with my song.
I have killed and healed.
I have lost everything I owned thru bankruptcy and fire and the bitterness of divorce. I have started and re-started my life a dozen times. I have loved…..truly loved only a handful of people yet… only now realize that it is okay for ME to be loved.
Yes, I am "The Far Traveler" but I still have Far to go.
