Johnelle Rookstool Rhines
Wow! 20 years is a long time! 1987 was a big year for me. It was not only the year I graduated, but also the year I became a mom. Ian Michael was born July 31, 1987.
John, my husband, and I have known each other since we were little kids. We started dating when Ian was 14 months old and married a year later on October 21, 1989. John adopted Ian in January of 1990. In July 1991, Kailie was born and in July of 1993, we had our third child Jaren.
After living the Kansas City area until 1995, we moved to a suburb of Boston. In 1997, we moved to St. Charles, just outside of St. Louis.
My husband is a software engineer in Chesterfield, MO and I have always been a stay at home mom. I also currently help run a small non-profit foundation started in memory of our daughter (described below). Ian is 19 and is in the Army Reserves and starting college (hopefully) this fall and Jaren is 14.
Our family has been through some rough times in the last seven years. In November 2000, our daughter Kailie was diagnosed with Leukemia. After a long, courageous battle, she passed away on August 15, 2004. In memory of Kailie and with the help of friends, we began the Kares 4 Kailie Foundation to benefit St. Louis area kids with cancer and their families. You can go to kares4kailie.org for more information. From there you can go to Kailie's personal page if you are interested in her journey. Our faith in Jesus Christ is what has kept us going. We know we will see her again someday!
It was fun going through the website and seeing where everyone is now. We can’t make it, but I hope you guys have a great reunion!
