Today's Featured Biography
Judith Berrier Marrs
I graduated from CMSU earning a BS in Elementary Ed in 1967 and began teaching kindergarten two weeks later. I had done my student teaching for Hickman Mills and was promised a position upon graduation. I taught nine years for the CSD#1, Hickman Mills School District before taking a temporary leave after losing my first baby to SIDS in 1974. I was a stay-at-home mom until my son began school. Although I was offered a position as Learning Disability teacher for CSD, I instead accepted a position with the Kansas City, MO School District. I wanted a more challenging career. I have completed an MS in Educational Technology and have an additional 52 hours in Learning Disabilities. I was the Technology Coordinator/Computer Teacher for Holliday Montessori Elementary until I retired in May of 2012. I was asked to set up their first computer lab at the school in 2002. I loved teaching computer, especially to my preschoolers. I also did special tutoring with children needing extra help. I have three fantastic children and six grandchildren ten and under, four boys and two girls. I’m really enjoying my grandchildren and if you check out their pictures on Facebook you’ll see the oldest three are all red headed with blue eyes. Only my youngest grandson has brown eyes and the youngest three are blond. My son lives in Lee’s Summit with his wife and two little boys. My oldest girl (mother of the three reds) lives in Bentonville, Arkansas where her husband is a network manager for Wal-Mart. Jana is a CPA but isn’t working at this time. She’s too busy being Mommy and home schooling her three. Jonathan is ten and will be in sixth grade this year, Joseph is eight and will be in fourth grade, and Jessica is six and will be in second grade. My youngest girl Jamie was teaching but is now a stay at home mom with an almost one-year-old. Her husband Brett is music professor at Central Christian College in McPherson College. He’s working on his doctorate in music while giving private lessons. He is the rehearsal artist as well as performance artist for the McPherson Opera House every summer. I’ve been to the performances for the last two years and am always amazed at how professional they are and how people come from several states away to see them. My son Jared is a computer programmer and the daddy of two little boys that look just like their daddy, one of them acts just like his daddy too. His wife Kelly is a night supervisor at Kohl's. I divorced my husband James Tony Marrs in 2004.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
