Today's Featured Biography
Claudia Suhr Gloyd
Mike and I were married two weeks after I graduated, and the Army moved us to Texas that following November. Daughter, Carrie, came along September 1970. Summer of '71, Army moved us to Bornheim, Germany (suburb of Frankfurt). Mike was released on the "early out" program, and we came back to KC area April of '72. Daughter, Jennifer, was born February '73, and we bought our first house in June. After trying several different job opportunities, I settled into the position of Account Rep with my insurance agent, and have been in the same business ever since. My 39-year-old life started getting more exciting when my first grandchild was born and lived with us for a while. Since then, our two daughters have blessed us with 6 MORE grandchildren. We are very active in our church, and are blessed to have all our family living in the KC metro area. My father passed away in a car accident January 1992, and we lost my mother last December (2006), after an accident in the nursing home caused trauma to her brain. But, again, God was good. My brother and I had spent the evening prior to her death at her bedside, and we were able to say our good-byes.
We just returned last week from our denomination's National Convention, held in Little Rock, AR this year. We had a great time, with wonderful people, and terrific scenery. Looking forward to a trip to Charleston, WV next year! We also got to spend a day with Mike's uncle in Eldon, MO. He's 86 y.o and going strong. Goes 3 times a day to nursing home to feed his wife (Alzheimer's). God IS good!
Update - 7/2009 - My brother, David, went to Charleston, WV with us in July 2008, and we all had a great time! I lost David to cancer this past April, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to spend time with him. I miss him terribly.
I just got back a week ago, from our National Convention in Cincinnati, OH. Went by myself, because Mike couldn't get off work. I drove 10 hours with the driver's window down and the passenger window 1/3 down, cd cranked up LOUD, and never had to turn on the A/C! God is good. The drive back was just a little warmer, but still never had to use the a/c. Got the best gas mileage, too! Next year, Convention is in Oklahoma City.
