Today's Featured Biography
Richard Jacobson
I headed over to the University of Minnesota in ’57 and left in ’61 with a BS in Business Administration. Kept on working for the company I had been with during college.
I continued to be strongly influenced by Christian friends and principles as I had been in high school and college. In that context I met Kathy Stone from Washburn ’59 and we married in 1963. Kathy’s involvement with Young Life led to an assignment at Castaway Club in northern Minnesota.
Our first daughter, Jane, was born up there, but we were soon transferred back to Minneapolis. Second daughter Anne arrived and another move followed, this time to Young Life Headquarters in Colorado. Then Sara made an appearance completing our trifecta of girls. We later returned to Minneapolis.
There I worked with Northwestern Products and later Rivertown Trading. Rivertown was purchased by Target Corporation.
I retired from Target in 2004 which made it possible to spend more time with my kids who are spread out across the country. Family is very important and I’m sure this led to an interest in researching my family history.
In 2006 I bought a small house in Colorado and this year moved there permanently. It’s in an area called the banana belt of Colorado and the climate is moderate throughout the year. I enjoy hiking and outdoor activities so it’s ideal in that regard. (No bananas though…)
