Joan Punte' Weimer

After a short period of working @ the Dept. of Defense, I became a stay-at-home mom for 15 yrs. I was an active volunteer at church, the kids' schools, swim team, Camp Fire Girls, & various community orgs. Then it was back to work at Chadwick Elementary, then on to Franklin High as registrar. After moving to Carroll Co. to our beautiful 3 1/2 acres in a secluded wooded area, we both retired and stay busy attending our beautiful flowers and lovely property. We also spend a lot of time at our PA mountain get-away. Besides traveling to many places within the states, we've traveled to Mexico, Hawaii, Europe and recently enjoyed a 2-wk land/sea trip to Alaska. Since retirement I have taken classes in water-color painting and also acrylics & presently trying my hand with pastels, pen & ink and additional drawing classes. We have 7 lovely grandchildren (ages 17 to 28 with 1 granddaughter being married for 5 yrs. now. They all live close by and we spend a lot of time with them and their activities. Our grandchildren have grown up faster than our kids did. The big love of my life (besides Del that is) are our 5 wonderful cats. I don't find them, they find me. Del tells me that I am one cat short of being a 'crazy' cat lady.
IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER AGAIN, I WOULD DO EVERYTHING EXACTLY THE SAME WAY -- NO REGRETS !
Just one additional note: Del and I are looking forward to renewing our wedding vows on our 50th wedding anniversary in February and celebrating with family and friends afterwards :-)

WANTED TO UPDATE SOME INFO - Today is January 10, 2016, my 7_ something birthday - and as everyone knows we are pretty much the same age - lol. And of course it is my dear twin borther Larry's birthday as well. Next month will mark 11 years since he left us and someday we WILL be together again. I miss him but I know he is at peace in heaven.
Del and I have finally moved to our new Villa (a 55 and older community) up in Littlestown, PA. It only took him 53 years or so to get me over that PA line. We had been thinking about it for almost 5 years - our beautiful property just got a little too much for us to really take care of the way we like. I was really reluctant but I must admit I love it. Everyone is so nice and the area is beautiful and quiet. We probably should have done it a few years earlier. Better late than never I guess.

I am so very sorry to report the death of my dear husband DEL of 59 + years last July 29, 2021. He was 83 at the time of his death and I must admit we had an absolutely long beautiful marriage. We took pride in our many happy times with our family and friends. We were always TOTALLY HAPPY, HEALTHY, AND GRATEFUL FOR OUR MARRIAGE, OUR 3 CHILDREN and OUR 7 GRANDCHILDREN AND SO FAR 3 GREAT GRANDSONS. Life has been great and and we are so very THANKFUL for our time together.

I want to now mention the death of our middle child a son, Bryan Edward Weimer on September 28, 2021 less then 8 weeks after his dad's death due to Bryan's COVID. It was a shock to all of us and one that was so much to accept since he was only 55 and ready to retire. With the wonderful support we received AND our strong faith, we have somewhat accepted that he is with his dad and in heaven AND AT PEACE FINALLY. AMEN
