Today's Featured Biography
Kevin Johnson
What can I say? First, I can't believe it's been 30 years. Y'all are getting old.
After graduating from BPI, I attended Howard University, receiving a BBA in Accounting in 1982. Did all kinds of things at HU, most of all maintaining my full academic scholarship for all 4 years - Whew!!!.
Was in the marching band, playing drums and then ascending to Drum Major, just like at BPI. Being Head Drum Major at an HBCU (and at Howard) was an unforgettable experience.
Was into all types of extra-cirricular activities, just like at BPI, including WHBC (on-air personality), pledged Kappa Alpha Psi, Campus Pals (assisted Freshmen orientation), and other stuff.
Left HU and was recruited by General Motors in Detroit in 1982, where I have spent my entire career and adult life. I have had 14 different jobs over the past 26 years. Currently, I am a Manager in the Global Program Management group, focusing on managing product content changes to our global portfolio.
I have a beautiful wife and two beautiful daughters, one who just began Howard University as a freshman just last week, studying pre-med. The other daughter is a senior in high school and hopefully will be headed to HU to study pre-med as well.
I stay active in my personal life and in the community, involved in many activities and organizations (too many I think at times). Probably the biggest activity is being the National Convention Meeting Planner for Kappa Alpha Psi, organizing conventions and events for 10,000 people on an every two year basis.
However, no activity compares to being the ultimate Father, Husband, and Family Man, which I strive to be for every day.
Good to re-connect with BPI Class of 1978. Looking forward to hearing from you.
