Today's Featured Biography
Peter Slaney
I moved out of Plymouth in 1990 and relocated to Wareham, Mass, where my girlfriend Cassandra (now my wife) and I rented a small apartment across from Tobey Hospital from 1990 to 1994. During that time, we got married in 1992 and then bought our house in 1994, also in Wareham. We still reside there.
We have two awesome daughters (Lauren - b. 1995 and Allison - b. 1998). Lauren is very dedicated to her education and made it onto the Pop Warner All Scholastic Academic team in both 2007 and 2008. In both her junior and senior years of high school, she ranked in the top 10 of her class. She's now a graduate of Bryant University with a degree in Marketing and a minor in Communications.
Allison graduated from Bristol County Agricultural School in Dighton, Mass and took Floriculture, the study of flowers. She loves anything to do with plants and her floral arrangements placed first overall in the BCAS Annual Fall Show for both her Jr. and Sr. years. It was only the 2nd time in school history that a student has finished first overall for two consecutive years. She's now a graduate of Bridgewater State College with a degree in Biology.
As far as my work history is concerned, I worked for my uncle as a House Painter for 16 years, beginning in high school in 1985 and lasting until 2001.
I then switched jobs and began working for "The Lawn Company" out of Sagamore Beach, Ma. While there, I earned my Commercial Certification to apply pesticides legally and fertilized lawns, trees, & shrubs. I also sprayed them to control weeds, diseases & insects. Eventually, I moved up to a Service Manager position and stayed there for a total of 4.5 years before leaving in 2005.
From there, I took a job at SiteOne Landscape Supply in West Wareham as the Assistant Store Manager and after 16 years I've now moved up to the store Manager position and have been "running the show" for the past two seasons.
My hobbies include spending quality time with my wife and daughters, hanging out with friends, watching the Celtics, Red Sox or NASCAR on T.V, and attending car shows, cruise nights and drag racing with my'79 Mustang Cobra that I built with help from my twin brother Paul Slaney.
