Worked for Dillons (on Santa Fe) during high school and into college (KU). Continued at Dillons for a few years after college, got married in 1984, returned to KU in 1990 for a teaching degree (BSEd - Computer Science and Mathematics, certified grades 5 through 12). My daughter was born in 1989. I was divorced in 1992.
In the summer of 1992, I was hired as a mathematics teacher and technology coordinator for the Independence School District. I took the job thinking I would return to the Olathe area in a year or two. In 1996, I met my wife, turned down an offer at the KS State Department of Education, and asked to "unresign". We were married in March 1997. Debbie has two children.
I no longer teach at the K-12 level, but get adjunct professorships at community colleges, Pittsburg State University, and this year, Newman University. I continue to be the District Technology Coordinator for the Independence School District (17th year now!) Our oldest graduated from KU last spring, another will graduate in May and our youngest began as a Junior at KSU this fall. Next year we will have only one in college (the end is near!)
I enjoy traveling, writing, baseball, computing (of course) and try to spend any free time on the golf course. I have been playing golf since junior high and am currently the golf coach at Independence High School. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it!
Most of my family still lives in the Olathe area, with the exception of youngest sister Jan, my only other "teacher" sibling.
