Life has been a wonderful journey. I have had wonderful relationships along the way. Three times I almost got married. Instead, I have had long-term mentoring relationships with several young men, Keon and Brian. I remember the lince at the end of Mrs. Doubtfire where she shares how there are lots of kinds of families. Life has been good.
Partially thanks to Mr. Dennis and Mrs. Luberts from high school, I chose a career in teaching. I finished my career as an Associate Professor Emeritus in the Curriculum and Instruction Department at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. I cofounded Colleagues of Color for Social Justice and continue to serve as editor of the EOA Best Practices Clearinghouse. I have taught introductory global history courses and investigate the history and best practices of equity programs, learning assistance, and academic interventions supporting improved student achievement and persistence.
At the University of Missouri-Kansas City, I served as National Project Director of Supplemental Instruction. I served as President of the National Association for Development Education.
Current research and publications are available at www.arendale.org and his podcasts and social media are at www.davidmedia.org To stay alive I work out at the YMCA at least three days a week. I would like to be around for the 75th anniversary of our high school graduation. Really. Despite today's headlines, I still have optimism for the future and what a new generation of young people will bring to our world. I think spending time with young people in class for four decades has infused me with energy and optimism.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
