Today's Featured Biography
Kathryn Cockriel Janzen
Currently, I am teaching art in the elementary school level. I see approx 750 children a week in K-5th grades and we create everything and anything they or I can imagine! Most of the time that goes quite smoothly but it's always an adventure.
I have my degree in Art and returned to school for Art Ed and Special Ed endorsements. Somewhere in the middle I earned a Business minor, . . . not real sure why though.
I still enjoy taking art classes when I can. Last summer I participated in an African Arts Workshop in which outdoor kilns were used during that terribly hot summer! It was taught by craftspeople from Ghana though and was fastinating. Hopefully one day I can go see how it's done where they live. Continued classes is one of the required 'perks' to my job.
My three sons are grown now. Being mother to them has been the biggest blessing in my life. They have brought joy, riches and maturity to me in ways they are just now understanding, I think.
They have also brought four grandchildren into my world, - which is an amazing thing as well. Oscar who is nine, LilyAnn is 6, Aiden is 5 and Connor is my Angel Grandson who came to us in 2006 and left the same year. My son, Jeramy, and I walk in the SIDS walk each year. I have a goal of running the 5K for that charity next year.
Single now and quite fine with that, -well, most of the time anyway. Living in a city is a challange sometimes, but it's were I work. I love, love, love to travel whenever I can.
Aside from teaching, I do work on my own art whenever time allows. Also am into geneology, enjoy learning more about architecture and history and alas, games on facebook.
The best of future plans would be more of the above! More grandchildren, more art and more travel. (OK, after four years, a pay raise would be cool as well).
But, life has been wonderful thus far and more of the same would be alright with me.
