Today's Featured Biography
Cathryn Merchant
I've had many ups and downs, and life has thrown me some curves in the last 20 years, but it's all been a great learning experience.
I've been grooming dogs and cats professionally for the last 10 1/2 years, and I feel blessed to have found a career in which I can make a comfortable living, challenge myself both physically and mentally, AND find much happiness and fulfillment. It's not all wags and kisses by any means; it's a risky job, and even the bite from a small dog can end a career.
I have yet to find that One Lasting Love, but I know he's out there somewhere, and I'm not going to give up. To paraphrase Travis Tritt ("Drift off to Dream"), "(He's) been here forever, so clear in my mind
I just don't know where (he is).... (He) might be hundreds or more miles away
Or (he) might be just down the street
But there'll be a hunger deep in (his) eyes
That I'll recognize when we meet
It might take hours or it might take years..." but we'll find each other when God says the time is right. Wherever he is, I know he's in Wranglers and a Stetson, listening to Chris LeDoux.
Until then, I'm not postponing life and I enjoy going out dancing with friends, training my dogs, cheering for my favorite Professional Bull Riders (or my favorite bulls if I'm feeling ornery), listening to Classic Rock, 80s Rock, or Classic Country. I own a small home and my family is close by, so life is pretty good.
My volunteer work as a puppy raiser for KSDS keeps me busy, as well. I'm currently raising puppy #4, an ornery golden retriever named Arthur. He's my third Golden and the second puppy I've raised almost completely on my own. He keeps me on my toes, believe me!
