Today's Featured Biography
Mary Telin Engle
The last 50 years...have been a trek. In the few years after high school and the University of Iowa, I did technical writing work and was an executive assistant for a couple of companies in the Chicago area. After moving to Crystal Lake, IL, I worked for a small private group of manufacturing companies that eventually grew into an international leader. Before I retired, I was the Executive Assistant to a company President. During those years out of college, I married, had a son and two daughters and kept working. Over my 35-plus year association with the company, I was able to spend the children’s early years on a flex schedule and as they went off to college I was able to help support their own individual ambitions. Two are now clinical therapists for at-risk families and adolescents and another is a college admissions director. During my professional work, I was fortunate to forge lifelong relationships with my co-workers as well as continue to have a very close relationship with each of my children. Spending time now with seven grandchildren is a complete joy. Exhausting, but absolutely wonderful. I am also blessed to have the continued bonds with a group of junior and high school friends from Freeport with which I regularly communicate. Notably, now that “old age” seems to be approaching, I share life in a delightful marriage with another ’68 Freeport graduate, Dave Engle, and his children and grandchildren. These last few years have been wonderful and I find myself looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.
