WELL, THE 35TH REUNION WAS A SUCCESS. WE WERE SO LUCKY TO SEE SO MANY GREAT CLASSMATES THAT TRAVELED FROM AFAR AS WELL AS THE LOCALS. I HOPE YOU ALL KNOW YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE JUST BEING THERE. Barbara Thomas Keough
My husband Craig and I returned to Dubuque in 1990 from Des Moines. Craig worked for the State of Iowa, Dept. of Public Health as an Emergency Medical Services Coordinator and retired 2 years ago. I have beenemployed at Mercy Medical Center since 1990 as the Nursing Director/Administrator of the Home Care department and recently decided to accept another position as Risk Manager/Safety Officer for Mercy. We have a son,Ryan, and 3 grandchildren who live in Boone,IA with their parents(my stepdaughter and her husband.
I've been an RN since 1978, completed my Bachelor of Science in Health Arts and later attended Drake University to receive a Masters degree with 3 majors. Last year, 2011, I decided to return to Clarke University to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Think I'm done with school, unless I get motivated toward a Doctorate! In 2011 I was nominated [and selected [from hundreds of nurses in Iowa as a 100 Great Iowa Nurse.
June 2012 we built a new house and have that pretty much put together but moving is a LOT of work, but a good reason to get rid of stuff and simplify.
I have continued on with my music and play the piano and organ at my church and for weddings. I enjoy singing as well, but will keep my day job as they say. I am also the President of my church and very involved in my church's (St. John's Lutheran) mens homeless shelter. Working to make required changes needed to meet housing and fire codes for the city in order to re-open the shelter. Hopefully before it gets cold and snows.
We enjoy traveling to various parts of the world ie. Greece, Caribbean etc. In 2011, my dream of visiting Paris, France came true and we threw in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. Then it was Hawaii 2012 and 2013 we toured Ireland with friends.
It's great getting together with friends and keeping in touch.
