Today's Featured Biography
Eric Jakubowski
After Parkview, I went to DCC and floundered around there till 1981. I joined the Air Force Reserves and trained to be a jet engine mechanic working on B-52 and F-15 Eagle. However, my career with the Airforce was short lived since they moved our engine shop from Robins AFB. I went back to DCC and graduated with honors in 1985. Afterwards transferring to UGA, worked on my Bachelors in Mathematics and Mathematics Education. I graduated in 1987 and met my wife there. We moved from Georgia to Florida. In 1988 we were married.
After a year teaching math in middle school, I went to FSU and earned my Master's and Ph.D. in Educational Research. I then taught at FSU, Troy State and Valdosta State. Getting tired of University stress, I wound up teaching at North Florida Community College for several years. However, I felt I wasn't going anywhere and went through a law enforcement academy where I joined the local sheriff's department. I remained with the sheriff's department part-time and went back to teaching in the public schools for 6 more years, which I got tired of. Loved teaching, loved the kids, it was all the administrative horsecrap that was senseless that I had to put up....because they could.
At the old age of 52 I went full time with the Sheriff's Department, being the oldest deputy sheriff going through FTO. I don't regret any of it, love my job and love what I do. Maybe one day, I'll go back to teaching, but not now....
Last, I have a wonderful and beautiful daughter who is a Marine Biologist who is just finishing her Master's Degree
