9/15/2011 Bill Slatkin's Poem about East
Iíve been surfing the Classreport website,
find slightly familiar names and faces.
Search the archives of my memory for matches,
with only vague recognition in most cases.
. . .
After graduation from East, I graduated from Smith College, where I majored in Art History. Then it was off to Europe to view up close what I had only seen in a book or from slides. Returning from Europe, I headed to the opposite coast where I worked for a brokerage in San Francisco. Then back to Europe for 5 months, before landing in Boston where I worked in Admissions for a junior college, and got my Masters in Education at Lesley College in Cambridge. Got married, and we lived in Illinois for a year, before moving back to Denver, and Iíve been here ever since. When Frank and I divorced, I moved to Westminster to be closer to where I was teaching. As an elementary school teacher in Jefferson County, I taught grades 2-6 over 25 years, and retired 10 years ago. In addition to Europe and Mexico, Iíve traveled to New Zealand, Bolivia, Uganda, Tanzania, and in March went to Nicaragua and Costa Rica. I enjoy opera and travel, and keep busy with family (especially with my brother Billís 4 children and their families) seeing good friends, hiking, camping, fly fishing, cross country skiing, and photography.
I treasure my time at East and the friends that I made there, and look forward to seeing everyone at our reunion!
