Today's Featured Biography
Barbara Hardcastle Houser
Hello fellow classmates. I am probably one of those forgotten students, I had friends and a lot of acquaintances during my time at SGHS. You all might remember me at the cash register in the cafeteria during lunch. I also was one of the shortest girls on Drill Team.
I got married the Saturday after graduation to my first husband (didn't last) The only encouragement I had from my parents was to get married. Soon after I started a real job, believe me I worked a lot of jobs, because I would get bored and wanted a better challenge.
Challenge met, by joining the Marine Corps. I was thrilled, boot camp was tough. I had a great career in the Corps and I would do I it all over, accept sooner. I got to go places that I had only dreamt of and loved what I did. From serving my country, to getting a degree, volunteering for community services and of course Toys for Tots. It was hard being a Woman Marine at that time, every duty station I had to prove myself. While I was in Germany at a Joint Service Command, I met my second husband, an Army MP. We got married about a year after we met. It was difficult to be stationed close to each other, but we did it.
Five years after marriage we had our first child Krystel (1986) and two years later (Kari 1988). Now I have six Grandchildren. Krystel has one boy and two girls and Kari has three girls. I love being a Nana, it is fun and at times exhausting.
I have lived in a lot of places, in my life time. I have moved a lot besides the military moves. Life gives us all challenges and we have to do what we need to do.
Currently, I live with my oldest daughter and I take care of her children. It is not where I had imagined what I would be doing or where I am in this time of my life. Although I am grateful that I am having the experience of being a major part of their lives.
I love to read, make cards, scrap booking, painting, gardening, and my newest adventure is going to be quilting. I am terrified of doing it, but through perseverance I will do it.
I wish I could be there with all of you to enjoy the festivities, but due to my limited income I just can't do it. I hope you all have fun get reacquainted. Go Trojans!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
