Today's Featured Biography
Susie Seltzer
2006: Let's see, after high school, I attended College of Marin. After about a year, I decided to take some time off (a parent's worst nightmare) to pursue my dream of an active nightlife in San Francisco. For several years I can honestly say I excelled at all-night clubbing in a way I never had at college.(And, no, much to my parent's dismay, I never made it back to college. Just as they had predicted.)
About a week before my 22 birthday I suffered a very unexpected stroke that landed me in the hospital for a week, followed by my first open-heart surgery about a month later. We had been aware of a heart valve concern, but had not expected to have to deal with it for several years.
After a speedy (ha!) recovery from the stroke & surgery, I continued to live in S.F. for several years while working for a small Mill Valley company where I was employed for 6 years. In 2004 the company was sold and I was laid off. It seemed like a good time for a change. I wanted to live in a smaller community, so I moved back to Boise, Idaho where I had spent my childhood.
I have had a variety of administrative jobs over the years. Three years ago, after losing another job (this one due to after effects of September 11th) I was asked to interview for a position in a local church. Although I had some hesitations at first, I was hired and I have found it a very nice place to work. (And yes, my friends did get a big laugh when I told them I would be working for a church!)
My boyfriend Dave & I have been together about a year. He's a great guy & we are a good match. After being engaged 4 times (yes, I said 4 - don't ever want to do THAT again!)it's nice to just be with someone and not worry about getting engaged and/or married.
I had my second stroke and another open-heart surgery just over 2 years ago. It's been a tough ride at times but what can I say, it's hard to feel sorry for myself; I'm still kickin',and I feel good now-and that is plenty to be grateful for!
Update: Been with Dave 10 years now, had a third open heart surgery 2 years ago - hopefully my last. Left my job at the church in 2009, did some temp work for a year and I DID go back to college in 2010. Graduated Cum Laude from Boise State University with a B.A. in Communication and an Emphasis in Organizational & Relational Studies in 2013. I have currently been in my job as the Senior Assistant to the General Counsel at Boise State for 1.5 years

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
