Today's Featured Biography
Vaughn Gordon
My years following graduation have chiefly been involved with school, family, and work. I graduated from Brigham Young University in 1975, taking time out to serve a two-year mission in Brazil for the LDS Church. After working a bit in the title insurance industry, I attended the Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey, CA where I received my translator's certificate (German to English). Following graduation I secured a position with Siemens Corporation in Boca Raton, FL as a translator / editor in the area of telecommunications.
After 11 years with Siemens, my family (wife Diane and kids Eddie, Christy, Anne, and Mark)moved to Glendale, AZ where I attended the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management. We ended up staying in Glendale where we enjoy the weather and the desert.
Through a series of mergers I ended up working for Lucky's, Albertsons, and CVS Pharmacy without changing jobs!
After all that, 2010 brought considerable downsizing, and I was one of the many who were affected. At 61 I had to re-invent myself. I ended up certifying to teach English as a second language to adults. I have enjoyed this immensely!
Diane and I have enjoyed this ride (40 years)very much and look forward to watching our four children and (soon to be) eight grandchildren grow and develop. It's hard to believe that we are actually coming up on 50 years out of high school. If we had only known then what we know now. . . .
