Today's Featured Biography
Michael Verrengia
After graduation from PHS, I worked at a couple of odd jobs while waiting to go into the US Coast Guard. I served in the Coast Guard from 1/69 -1/73 attaining the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. I had been trained as an electrician, but was also a USCG Federal Boarding Officer. Along with my boarding officer skills, I became a USCG Search and Rescue Boat Coxswain. When I was honorably discharged from the USCG, I went to work for the next 32 years as an electrician.
My wife Julie and I were married in 1974 and have two grown daughters: Chrystal 33, and Cindy 28. We stayed in the West Orange County area, and both of us have family that are local.
In 1980 I decided I wanted to serve my community in another way, and became a reserve police officer for the Garden Grove Police Dept. My career at GGPD has been exciting and rewarding in the extreme. I have been recognized by both my own department, and the California law enforcement community as a whole. My proudest acheivements are being awarded two Medals of Valor, and the Life Saving Medal. In 2001 I was named the "Reserve Police Officer of the Year" for the state of California.
I retired in 2005 as an electrician, but continue to work as a patrol officer for GGPD. Julie and I just celebrated 34 years of marriage on March 9, 2008.
I retired from Garden Grove PD in 2010 then went to work for Southern california Edison doing Nuclear Security work. Unfortunately SCE decided to decommission the nuclear plant in 2013, so over 250 Nuclear Security Officers were laid off.
After being out of work for a year I was hired by Linxx Global Solutions, who is a US gov't security contractor. Linxx provides everything from dignitary and executive protectio, to gov't facility protection and ongoing training for US military services. I currently work as a Security Team Supervisor with the US Coast Guard in the LA/LB harbor area.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
